Sexual Therapy Training Sexocorporel

Module 4: Expertise

Participants in this module professionalize and integrate their sexual therapeutic competencies according to Sexocorporel. They learn to conduct individually tailored Sexocorporel therapies even in complex and challenging situations. They refine their therapeutic work as well as their self-reflection and self-regulation as therapists.

Completion of Module 3: Advanced Training or the former Advanced Training Program is a prerequisite for participation, as is a sexological counseling practice and the ability to make video recordings of sessions. Successful completion is a prerequisite for applying for the title Clinical Sexology iSi.

The Expertise Module corresponds to the former Certification Program.

In addition to two Expertise Seminars, six two-day Expertise Workshops are conducted in fixed groups of 6 participants. One Expertise Seminar is conducted by ZISS; the second can be chosen from ZISS, isp Vienna or IfES.

The first seminar of the new Expertise Module begins on 11.02.2028. Expertise Workshops start on an ongoing basis as soon as a sufficient number of registrations have been received.

Scope

2 plenary seminars of 4 days each, one of which with freely chosen topics at an iSi-certified institute
6x2-day Expertise Workshops in fixed small groups
Total duration: 1 year

Specific Objectives

Graduates of the Expertise Module have integrated the physical and cognitive principles and practices of Sexocorporel and are able to independently conduct complete, individually tailored Sexocorporel therapies. They are also able to handle challenging sexual therapeutic situations and have developed a reflective approach to their own therapeutic behavior.

  • They have mastered the Sexocorporel assessment and can explain the logic underlying the client's functioning.
  • They can objectively analyze the physical structuring of sexual tension, ideomotor activity, and the intrapsychic significance of bodily dynamics.
  • They have mastered the structure, content, and implementation of sexual therapies, including in complex cases.
  • They can objectively self-evaluate, recognize the logic of their own functioning, and apply processes of emotional self-management and self-regulation.
Methods and Content

The two Expertise Seminars and six Expertise Workshops address concrete sexual therapeutic practice across all areas of sexuality, with a focus on their particular challenges. Particular emphasis is placed on the participants' personal development as therapists.

The Expertise Workshops focus on therapeutic fine-tuning and practical skills development, particularly in areas that typically present difficulties in sexual therapy. Participants refine their use of body interventions and exercises and work through complex therapeutic situations in role-plays.

In addition, participants deepen their self-reflection and self-regulation as therapists in the Expertise Workshops. Based on a video recording of a sexual therapy session, they reflect on their therapeutic resources and difficulties and formulate any concerns they may have.

To receive the certificate, participants demonstrate their ability to communicate knowledge and specific learning steps in a well-founded manner, as well as to respond to clients empathically and objectively while reflecting on and regulating themselves in the process. A case study (at least 10 sessions or a completed case) is also required for certification.

Supervision and Personal Experiential Work

Mandatory:

  • Individual personal experiential work: By the completion of the Expertise Module, a total of 12 hours of individual personal experiential work with iSi-recognized supervisors (live or online) is required. 8 of these hours are already mandatory by completion of the Advanced Training Module. The remaining 4 hours may also be completed during or before the Advanced Training Module.
  • Individual and/or group supervision: By the completion of the Expertise Module, at least 40 hours with iSi-recognized supervisors (live or online) must be completed. Supervision can be started in earlier modules. Participation in group supervision during the seminars of the Clinical Module and the Advanced Training Module (10x1.5h=15h in total) counts toward this requirement, as does participation in the advanced supervision sessions as part of the Advanced Training Module (15h).

Optional:

  • Regular personal experiential work and supervision is generally recommended for all professionals working with Sexocorporel.
  • As part of personal experiential work and couples therapy interventions using Sexocorporel, attendance at seminars in the Sex and Love – Vivre en Amour series is also recommended.
Certification and Title

All graduates who successfully complete the Expertise Module receive the ZISS Certificate of Completion in Clinical Sexology Sexocorporel as well as a corresponding certificate from the iSi.

For certification, attendance of at least 90% of the seminars is required, as well as a submitted case study (at least 10 sessions or a completed case) and a written reflection on a video recording of a therapy session.
